Canine Diabetes
   Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  I forgot to put the insulin back in to the refrigerator, can I still use it?

A.  Unlike human insulin that is largely synthetic based, canine insulin contains a live culture which breaks down at room temperature.

Whilst a short time at room temperature is unlikely to cause problems, the insulin should ideally be kept between 2 and 8 degrees C. If in doubt, consult your Vet, although it is likely they will recommend it to be discarded and a new phial used.
